Camping:
The Maxwell and Gunter Recreation Office is combined with the Equipment Checkout office for easy reservations to the base’s resorts and rental of recreational and lawn and gardening equipment. Maxwell’s reservations office (334- 953-3509) accepts reservations for the Lakeside Pavilion at FamCamp, and Lake Martin Recreation Area and Mid-Bay Shores Resort area in Florida. Reservations can be made for Hopper Lodge at 334-953-5161. The Gunter Annex Outdoor Recreation and Equipment Checkout office (334-416-4888) accepts reservations for Fisk Park.

Equipment Checkout:
Offices are located at both Maxwell and Gunter Annex. The Maxwell office is in the Maxwell Mall at 206 W. Selfridge St. and the Gunter Annex office is located in the Community Center at 210 S. Ramp Rd. Both offices offer numerous different types of indoor and outdoor sports equipment, lawn and gardening equipment, camping, boating and fishing plus party and other items at reasonable prices on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. Both bases maintain a storage lot for campers, boats, recreation vehicles and trailers for rent on a monthly or annual basis with reservations being made through the Maxwell Equipment Checkout office. The Equipment Checkout offices are part of the Outdoor Recreation Office.

Maxwell’s reservations office (334 – 953-3509) accepts reservations for Hopper’s Lodge, the Lakeside Pavilion at FamCamp, Lake Martin Recreation Area and Mid-Bay Shores Resort area in Florida.

Fisk Park:
Gunter Annex offers a large pavilion with eight picnic tables and a large BBQ. There is a bathhouse and other picnic tables nearby, along with basketball, volleyball and softball areas. Reservations are necessary for the Fisk Park Pavilion, but there is no charge. Play equipment can be rented at the Gunter Equipment Checkout office.

Vehicle/RV Storage lots:
The rates for the storage lots on both Maxwell and Gunter for campers, boats, recreation vehicles and trailers are $20.00 a month. The vehicle sale lot is $5 weekly. Make reservations at Maxwell Event Center.

FamCamp:
On March Street among the trees on the bank of one of Maxwell’s 5 lakes.

Lakeside Pavilion:
 A 20 x 60 foot covered picnic area located by the base lakes at the FamCamp offers four BBQ grills, picnic tables and seating for 72 and restrooms.

Payment is due when reservation is made. Reservations can be made six months in advance for active duty and three months in advance for all others. The Lakeside Pavilion $30 per day with access to the Pavilion from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Hopper Lodge:
Hopper Lodge is a Swiss-like chalet style facility just south of the Maxwell FamCamp at 500 March St. that is perfect for private and organizational meetings and parties. The 150-seat building contains a fully equipped kitchen, indoor barbecue grills, ice machine, refrigerator, gas fireplace, and public address system. A small playground, volleyball court, softball field and horseshoe pit are near the facility.

The Maxwell pool and the Gunter pool:
Open from Memorial Day to Labor Day, The Maxwell pool is located on Ash Street on Maxwell; the Gunter pool is located on North Drive on Gunter Annex.

Pool passes are available through each pool and the Outdoor Recreation/Equipment Checkout office. Every Saturday is “Super Saturday” when customers can bring their floats, noodles and water wings. Both pools feature the two-flume 12-foot water slides.

Open Swimming          Tuesday-Friday from 1-7 p.m.
                                     Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m.-6 p.m.

Lap Swim is available Tuesday-Friday from 11:30 a.m.- 1 p.m.

Both pools are available to be booked for parties after operating hours on Saturday and Sunday. Parties must be booked 8 days in advance with pool managers. The pool party fee is $40 plus $13 per hour (or portion of hour) per lifeguard. A minimum of two lifeguards is required for up to 50 guests and three lifeguards for 51 to 100 guests. A $25 cleanup fee will be assessed if the pools are not cleaned after a party.

Mid-Bay Shores Resort:
Mid-Bay Shores resort area in Niceville, FL, on Highway 20, is just before the Choctawatchee Mid-Bay Bridge, a toll bridge that connects Niceville and Destin, FL. The Maxwell/Gunter Mid-Bay Shores Resort is approximately 3 ½ hours drive south from Montgomery, AL on Highway 331.

25 two-bedroom cabins, 5 moblie homes, 26 RV spaces with full hook-ups, water, electrical and sewer 4 overflow sites with just water and electrical hook-ups.
Rough camping areas
A wheel chair accessible cottage is available. No pets are allowed in rentals.

The cabins are 758 sq. ft. and sleep six to seven people, with three queen beds and one twin bed. There is a large living room and eat-in kitchen with a full size range and refrigerator, dining table with six chairs and one bath. The centrally air-conditioned and heated cabins also have a color TV, a microwave, pots and pans, coffee maker, utensils and outdoor BBQ. There is boat storage, boat launch, fishing pier, laundry, playground, showers, beach and swimming area. Furnishings include privacy window treatments and bedspreads, pillows, and blankets.

Visitors must provide their own linens and towels, food, toiletries, soap, shampoo, conditioner and hair dryers. Quiet time is 10 p.m.-8 a.m. Canoe, paddleboat and bicycle rental available. The resort is open year round.

Lake Martin Recreational Area:
Lake Martin offers a great white sand beachfront lake water recreation area just 60 miles northeast of Montgomery on the Lake Martin Reservoir, Tallapoosa County Rd. 34, Dadeville, AL. The resort is open year-round and offers picnicking with cabanas and grills, swimming area, fishing, hiking, boating activities and storage.

All trailers are furnished with a TV, microwave, refrigerator, stove, pots and pans, coffee maker, utensils, pillows, blankets, bedspreads and outdoor BBQ.
