AETC Recreational Guide

Out Door Rec PhotosOur AETC Outdoors

Welcome to a website that will help you plan adventures and activities for the entire family. Whether you plan on hiking, skiing, fishing, swimming, or whitewater rafting, you’ll find links to references. Our AETC bases are located near some of the most exceptional countryside in the south, west, and southwest in the United States. Our outdoor equipment rental has just the equipment you’ll need to participate in any activity from skiing at Luke AFB to boating on the west Florida Gulf of Mexico. Need to learn how to scuba dive, check out Tyndall AFB for classes. Visit off-base recreation areas at Randolph, Sheppard, Laughlin, Goodfellow, two at Maxwell, and Luke. Want to take the family for a picnic or have a squadron fun day, visit the parks on base and pick up a sports package from equipment rental. Have your own RV? Travel and stop at FAMCAMPs or check out recreational rental cabins from Arizona, Texas, and Mississippi to Florida and Alabama. Want help planning, stop at the Information, Tickets, and Travel (ITT) Office for great deals on everything from cruises to exploring the Grand Canyon, an amazing adventure holiday around the world, or specialty theme park tickets.

Outdoor Recreation services

In addition to adventures in the outdoors, some very practical services are available. Rent tables, chairs, cots, tents, and bouncy castles for your unexpected guests or party function. Need to cut the grass or plant a garden before your guests arrive? Lawn mowers, tillers, and garden tools are all available at equipment rental. Need to park your RV? – the RV storage facility is secure and accessible. Visit the bases to see if they have a Rod and Gun Club or a skeet range. Have a horse? Check out the saddle clubs for stabling or for special events. The marinas at Randolph and Keesler are some of the newest or refurbished and have wet and dry slips for boat storage. Other marinas are available at Goodfellow’s Lake Nasworthy, Laughlin’s Lake Amistad, Sheppard’s Lake Texoma, Maxwell’s Lake Martin and Bay Shores, and Tyndall’s Bonita Bay. Swimming pools are generally open from Memorial Day to Labor Day and many have water slides and children’s water play areas. Swimming lessons are taught throughout the summer. Private pool parties can be scheduled for evenings and off-hours. Lackland has a year-round covered pool that is sometimes used for para-rescue training. Have fun exploring and trying new possibilities outdoors. Use the directory on the left to go to a base or an outdoor reference site. You’ll find links to State and National Parks, totally outrageous outdoor adventure sites and military FAMCAMPs throughout the nation. Come back and visit often.
